Country music legend Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80, leaving a staggering amount of money behind for her loved ones. At the time of her death, the singer’s net worth was estimated to be between $450 million and $650 million.
The enormous fortune was built thanks to her music career, acting, songwriting, Hollywood film productions and her countless business and branding enterprises.
Parton’s decades-long career as a country performer began in the 1960s. The star achieved an outstanding 41 top-10 country albums along with 25 No.1 hit singles. During her solo career she sold over 100 million albums, not including her work on duets and collaborations.
This tally does not include any songs she wrote for other artists, reports the Express. For example, Whitney Houston’s of I Will Always Love You allegedly earned the country legend $20 million alone after it became the biggest-selling single of all time by a female performer.
Parton also appeared in films like 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias. She eventually tried her hand at film production and founded her own firm Sandollar Productions with long-time business associate Sandy Gallin in 1986, which was responsible for films like Father of the Bride, Fly Away Home and the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Dolly also expanded her horizons into cosmetics with her personal perfume line Scent From Above, partnered with baking powerhouse Duncan Hines on a collection of baking mixes and opened the East Tennessee theme park Dollywood.
The iconic country singer’s death was announced on 25 August 2026, confirmed by her relatives via a video posted on social media by her nephew. The announcement assured fans that she had “died peacefully in Nashville.”
The family’s official obituary read, “A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience.”
